In addition to the valuable skills Awana® leaders gain through Rorheim Institute training, those who participate gain recognition in two ways:

  1. What's your number?
Display the number of Rorheim Institute Units (RIUs) you've earned on your lanyard name card. Start with Basic Training and go from there. Already completed Basic Training? Great! You've earned five RIUs. There are more than 100 ways to earn RIUs.
  2. What’s your color?
Wear a different lanyard color to signify a new level of achievement. Based on the number of RIUs you have earned, you'll be entitled to wear the black, bronze, silver, gold or platinum lanyard.
Achievement Level
Bronze 60 RIUs
Silver 120 RIUs
Gold 180 RIUs
Platinum 240 RIUs

Are you in?
Discover your RIU number and lanyard color by registering on the Awana Resources and Tools Web site with your personal e-mail address. Once the registration process is complete, simply log in to Awana Resources and Tools and explore the Training Tracker Course Catalog. You'll see how to request credit* for the training or ministry experience you've already completed and can explore ways to work toward the next achievement level. You'll sport a new lanyard in no time!

* Note: When requesting credit, your Awana commander is required to verify that the leader has met the requirements and give his or her approval for RIUs to be awarded. To expedite this process, please ask your commander to register in ART first.
